NEWS FLASH: The President withdraws the nomination of Beverly Scott for the NTSB

Earlier it was reported that Dr. Beverly Scott was nominated to be a Member of the NTSB. The below article indicates that the White House announced that the request for Senate confirmation had been withdrawn.

This change of direction may be explained by the fact that both Senator Markey and Senator Warren were noncommittal when queried about the nominee. Those Massachusetts Senators may have had knowledge about the circumstances behind Dr. Scott’s resignation form MBTA due to problems dealing with a record blizzard.

Unfortunately for the transportation sector, the National Transportation Safety Board will have to continue to do its work without a full complement of Members. Why Dr.Scott’s nomination was not fully vetted for such an important post is troubling and perhaps gives greater credibility to the notion that this Administration does not hold transportation in high regard.
