The head of the FAA is a most important job within the federal government; for the occupant of the office on the 10th Floor is the CEO of a large operation which defines the capacity of the US air transportation. That is not even the most important mission of this organization. Captain Dickson is responsible for setting the strategic direction for all aspects of aviation safety. WELCOME

Secretary Chao and the new Administrator both thanked Dan Elwell for his exceptional service as the Acting Administrator during a time when the FAA was tested by challenges ranking among the most difficult in its history. THANKS, Dan.
