ARTICLE: Akoya hydrofoil amphib makes Oshkosh debut
Innovation is exhibited at the EAA AirVenture ® by the French company Lisa Airplanes and its Akoya luxury light sport aircraft production prototype. The very aerodynamic hydrofoils replace the traditional clunky pontoons. Clearly the LSA category promulgated by the FAA and EASA are driving new OEMs and those companies, like Lisa, are showing how creative engineering can result in efficient and beautiful aircraft, as noted here before.
The regulatory hurdles have been reduced, but the LSA industry has not yet shown that it can meet the FAA burdens and that support may be needed.
