Memo to Working Group on Improving Air Service to Small Communities: TRY Airlines/Community College Incubators, helps safety, too

U.S. DoT announced the 25 members of the new Working Group on Improving Air Service to Small Communities who will advise Congress on issues related to providing air service to small communities. Here are some thoughts on how to improve service to Small Communities, add pilots and mechanics to the work force, and create aviation entrepreneurs.


Innovative Paths to the JetBlue cockpit

JetBlue has added Gateway Select program to its six other pathways to pilot careers at the carrier. It differs from the other B6’s cockpit recruitment efforts in that (a) the candidate pays $125,000 for the first rate education, (b) no prior aviation experience and (c) assuming that all goes well, the graduate will be a first officer for the blue airline.
