ARTICLE: Oh, what a night!
Randy Tinseth, Boeing’s VP of Marketing, has a platform from which he can highlight the company’s technology and its history in his Journal. In his most recent entry, he celebrates Bill Boeing’s 90th birthday and he adds that, in addition to the company’s founder’s family, the guests included the descendants of Wright, Douglas, and Kindelberger families (the McDonnell’s were not able to attend). The birthday cake is pictured below.
The electrical engineer/marketer/blogger shows a wry sense of humor by including a picture (top of blog page) of the infamous B-707 barrel role. The captains of the airline industry were invited to Seattle to see the Gold Cup Hydroplane Races. Part of the show was a fly-by of the new plane. The test pilot, Alvin “Tex” Johnston, fully cognizant of the aircraft’s aerodynamic capabilities, performed not one but two barrel rolls during the demonstration (Watch Here).
One of the great moments in Boeing’s history and probably an event that almost shortened Mr. Boeing’s life with a heart attack!
Happy Birthday, Mr. Boeing.Share this article:
