Is the IAM foreign repair station blockade over? Aviation Safety prevails?

The press release, which was the source of the below article, does not mention the REAL news here. This is the 1st foreign repair station certification by the FAA since 2005. Why?

It took seven years for ScanTech (Scandinavian Aircraft Technologies A/S) to receive its FAA Part 145 authorization to repair N registered aircraft. The article mentions that the delay was occasioned by a US legal prohibition; the underlying reasons were the American mechanics unions convinced Congress to pass a law withdrawing the FAA’s ability to certificate foreign repair stations until TSA issued drug and alcohol rules for overseas maintenance organizations. Something resembling regulations were issued and now presumably the FAA can respond to requests for authority under Part 145 at foreign locations.

The facility in Sindal, Denmark works on Beechjets or Beechcraft King Airs; so their customers are not the typical aircraft on which IAM members would work.

Hopefully this action signals a real change in FAA ability to certificate FRSs, because they add to global aviation safety.
