ARTICLE: GAMA convenes rotorcraft safety and certification forum

GAMA’s announcement of its participation in the review of Parts 27 and 29 is good news. Along with the Helicopter International Association, Aircraft Electronics Association, this group will examine how this class of aircraft is certificated. GAMA’s participation is significant in that its leadership was instrumental in the truly innovative rethinking of Part 23.

The lesson that general aviation airplane certification was focusing on outcomes rather than compliance rigor led to both a higher level of safety and more efficient regulation. This new review holds great promise and will be closely followed.

Good luck!
