Not easily explained to general audience

FAA website does a good job of speaking to travelers

Transitioning a ground-based World War II (so called) era ATC system into a space- based state-of-of-the-art communications, navigation and capacity-managing system is difficult, verging on impossible, to accomplish. Explaining it in terms which the average citizen can understand is a writing challenge of Shakespearean dimensions.

Kudos to the FAA team which created this instructive web page.

While aviation professionals may debate the structure and financing of NextGen, the technology has a strong consensus behind its need. Few general audience publications will take the time to read, much less write, about the information contained in this FAA website.
