Corporate Angel Network

Business aviation has been vilified by any number of media pundits and politicians. Unfortunately, the work of aviation organizations like Corporate Angel Network does not get adequate coverage. This primarily volunteer group provides cancer patients with the best possible treatment by arranging free travel to treatment at the hospital best suited for their cancer. This matching of free transportation to the right medical institution improves the patients’ chances of survival and makes these patients feel special riding in these aircraft, which also are more accommodating to their physical needs. Five hundred top US corporations have donated 35,000 flights since its founding in 1981. CAN does a yeoman job of matching these worthy passengers to the flights of these business aviation departments.

This service requires a lot of financial support and CAN depends on donations to help it run this complex program. NBAA has dedicated time and space to an annual auction at its Convention. This year’s donations, to be auctioned off, are incredibly impressive:

  • An ATG 5000 high-speed Internet equipment package for business aircraft worth $91,500.
  • CAE ‘s $60,000 package, including airfare to Dubai and flight training at Emirates-CAE Flight Training. Aircraft simulators at the CAE facility–the A320; Boeing 737NG; Challenger 604; Global Express; Falcon 7X, 900EX EASy and 2000EX EASy; GIV, GV, G450, G500 and G550; and Hawker 800XP/XPi and 850XP/XPi.
  • SimCom, Bendix/King, Phillips 66 and Signature Flight Support and others have donated other high value items.

From the NBAA page on the Auction:
